Angry Bird Party

Today my youngest is 7!  Time sure flies!

Michael and I made this cake for Charles' family birthday party.  For this cake I used 2 cake mixes and filled a mini loaf pan (on the top) and the rest in a 9X13 pan.  One mix is not tall enough.  We made fondant for the top layer and to make the letters.  (they spelled Happy Birthday Charles around the edge of the cake.)

 

We made our own goody bag and cups.

I used a 1 3/8" circle and 1/2" circles to make the eyes on the cups and on the goody bags.  For the beak on the cups, I used the 1" square punch.  My punches sure come in handy!

 

Charles had fun picking out the big balloons at the party store.

I spray painted Easter Eggs so they could go on a "golden egg" hunt like in the Angry Birds game.  They had candy in them of course:)

Everyone had a blast launching water balloons at the "pigs"- Isaac and Abigail.

We had a friend party too, so this is the slightly smaller cake I made for it. I did not use Fondant this time, just frosting.

We sure had a fun time!  Now I am off party duty until February!

Angry Bird Banner

I made this banner for Charles' party using the Perfect Pennants Die.

 It was fun to get a little creative as I looked for punches that would help make the birds. 

I started with our 2 1/2" Circle Punch and then used 1 3/8" Circle Punch, 1/2" punch and then just a standard whole punch for the black on the eye.  I cut little strips for the other black pieces.  The top feathers were made using the Boho Blossoms Punch that I trimmed a little.  For the beak I cut a 5/8" square and then cut diagnally. 

Charles was quite pleased with the finished project!  It is so nice to have all of my Stampin Up supplies when getting ready for parties!

Abigail's new room

Abigail has been asking for a new room for quite some time, and we finally worked on it this summer.  She had this for her room before:

 

 

 

 

My Father in law made her the bed when she had just turned 2.  She used it for 8 years, and now we have passed it on to a cousin. 

 

This is her new room:

She is using her aunt Katie's old bedroom set.  Katie is home on maternity leave and has been the driving force in design and getting things done.  She loves to work on room decorations. The letters are from JoAnn. 

We stamped the circles using 2 retired stamp sets, Rivoting and Sweet Shapes.  Katie painted the stripes while I was in Madison to match the bedding.

I bought this chair at Target and then Katie picked up 3 canvases and we traced the flowers from the bedding onto vellum paper.  We then cut them out and traced them on the canvas and painted.  Katie has made an adorable canvas in each of her boy's rooms, so she has had practice.

It was really fun to do, and I love how it turned out!

Katie dressed this up with ribbon and other embellishments to make it fit the room.

 

We saw some adorable mobiles on Etsy, and Katie tackled making one for Abigail.  I bought the gold ring at JoAnn's and Katie had picked up several sheets of paper to coordinate with the room.  My punches came in handy for all the different sizes of circles.  Fishing line was used to hold it all toghter.  Many knots were tied.

 

All that is left is to make a window seat cushion and cornice board for the window. 

Decor Elements on the Van!

We are leaving in the morning for Colorado for a ski trip.  I ordered the Sporty Skier Decor Element to put on the van for the trip.  The kids were so excited to see it when they came home from school today.

It went on so quick and easy!  All you do it rub it on.  When we get sick of it we will peel it off, but I am thinking the kids will want it for awhile.

My favorite Make and Take from the Regional Seminar is this banner:

The petal cone die is what each section was made out of.  We also used the new Fun Flowers Die to make the flowers behind the letters.  I just received these dies in my latest order, so it was fun to see them used!

Dress Up a Candle

Any time we go away for a Stampin Up event we give gifts for our roommates.  This year for Leadership I made these candles.

I bought the candles at Kohls, and then used our Multipurpose Liquid Glue and added Champagne Glass Glitter to dress it up.

I used the larger end to apply the glue on the candle, and the smaller tip to add glitter to the tips of the Always Artichoke 1/2" Seam Binding and to the tag.

I packaged it up in a cello bag.

Pretty easy!

Leadership Morning of Day 2

I am breaking up the day in 2 posts.  This morning we were inspired to recruit, and learned more about our products.  I have been an Stampin Up demonstrator for almost 14 years, and it is amazing how they keep getting beter!

Here is a picture of the crowd after we were each given our red glitter paper, Glimmer brads, and Champaign Glitter.  We LOVE free product!

Our lunch was amazing.  I was expecting a box lunch, but instead we had this wonderful salad.

For dessert we had this chocolate caramel goodness.  We do not know what it is called, but it was fabulous!

They had many very cool projects they made using our products.  Here is a picture of Shelli using our Glimmer Brads!

Make your own little chalk board

Lyssa Zwolanek showed this to me, and I was happy to hear how easy it is to make!

Cover card board or other thick paper with our designer series paper.  You then take our Chalk Board sheets (p205) and cut it using the Top Note die with the Big Shot.  Use a Crop-A-Dile to punch holes in the top to put ribbon on the top.  Add a few embellishments and you are ready to go!

I was looking through the home decor section of the blog and realized that I had not put up a picture of my kitchen Decor Elements.  I have received so may compliments on it, and have been asked several times if I had painted it.
